| What is Included?
Housing in a twin room in a homestay within a residential neighbourhood in a suburb of Cape Town on a half-board (breakfast and dinner) basis with laundry.
- An orientation programme consisting of a welcome pack with information and maps on Cape Town and a half-day sightseeing tour of Cape Town by private coach with the services of a professional guide and a visit to the District Six Museum.
- One classroom available for academic course.
- Two guest lectures on South African Life and Culture.
- A full-day excursion by private coach to the Cape of Good Hope with the services of a professional guide. This daytrip includes entrance to the nature reserve.
- A full-day excursion by private coach to the Stellenbosch winelands with the services of a professional guide. This daytrip includes visits to two wineries with tastings and one cellar tour.
- A visit by boat to Robben Island with tour of the prison museum.
- A visit to Table Mountain by cable car.
- A programme of subsidised cultural events will be offered to students during the programme.
- Unpaid volunteer placements arranged by AIFS prior to arrival in South Africa. Placements will be based in and around Cape Town and will reflect the academic focus of the Chaffey College course. AIFS will place groups of students at each placement site and these will be arranged in consultation with the Chaffey College faculty member in advance of the programme.
- A two-day, one-night safari to a game reserve where students will see the “Big Five” – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros – up close. The excursion includes dinner, bed and breakfast and one game drive.
- Local AIFS staff assistance in Cape Town.
- Medical and program fee refund insurance policies.
