What is Included?
- Academic program of courses
relevant to the UK and Europe taught by California Community College faculty and local guest
lecturers.
- Housing in twin room apartments with cooking facilities in the historical centre of Florence within 30 minutes walking radius of the study centre. A change of linen will be provided along with a regular cleaning service.
- Orientation program including a student orientation meeting, and half-day walking tour of Florence, and workshops with local staff about life in Italy.
- Welcome reception.
- Free wireless internet access in the study Centre during class hours, Monday to Friday, plus a card to use at a chain on internet centres in Florence.
- Membership with borrowing rights to the British Institute Library in Florence.
- An Italian Life and Culture course, taught by local qualified English-speaking guest lecturers focusing on historical, political, economic and cultural aspects of Italy and Florence.
- Museum pass for each student valid for the duration of the programme with unlimited entry to the Uffizi Gallery, Accademia, Bargello, Pitti Palace, San Marco Museum and Medici Chapel.
- Access to AIFS Student Center providing on-site student information services from a team of experienced, full time AIFS staff, providing personal advising, fax and mail services and 24 hour emergency duty phone service.
- Program of extracurricular activities including a weekly programme of subsidised cultural activities including such activities as walking tours, cooking classes, wine tasting lectures, ballet, soccer matches, day trips to Siena and Pisa, concerts and film nights.
